We at Darealprisonart work with multiple artists and get involved in artist campaigns. One of our recent campaigns was for a prisoner artist, Donald "C-Note" Hooker. We thought through a series of posts, using Google search algorithms to inform the public about an artist to whom they may never have heard of. These posts were particularly aimed at those organizations or individuals who work in mass incarceration and other social justice spaces. C-Note, who has spent the majority of his time in a remote, racially charged, maximum security prison, in California's Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, was new to creating art for social justice. But what he has created are powerful. As noted in his artist bio, he's a multidisciplinary artist who has made a call out to other artists or persons working in social justice spaces to do artistic collaborations, or to use his unique creative voice to give voice to issues of concern for those working in any of the various social justice spaces.
